The One is on course to beat the guarantee

We recap another busy week at the CoinPoker tournament tables, including the biggest results of the weekend and early signs that The One will beat its lofty guarantee.

The headline tournament of the weekend at CoinPoker was the $150 CoinMasters BITCOIN event. It attracted a huge field of 3,240 players and was taken down by “PercocetPete99” for $69,250. His victory showed that persistence pays because it was his third bullet that sealed the deal.

One of the other big tournaments of the weekend was the finale of the $125 Big Weekender. This is a multi-flight event with a final turbo flight on Sunday. In total, there were 4,113 players, 404 of whom made it through to the final day.

It could have been the biggest prize of the weekend, but the final two players chose to deal heads-up instead. “Campa” and “Irreversible” both took home over $62,000 each after agreeing to chop it up.

It’s not just about the biggest buy-ins, as some of the biggest fields overall are in the lower-stakes events. The mini version of the Big Weekender is unsurprisingly called the Mini Weekender and has just an $11 buy-in. This is also a multi-flight event. It attracted a huge field of 4,259 players.

This time around, it was a three-way chop at the final table, with the podium finishers all guaranteed at least $5,200 for their $11 entry fee. A 47,172% ROI for three people was incredibly impressive, no matter what the stakes.

Positive Early Numbers For The One

All eyes this month will firmly be on The One, which is CoinPoker’s most ambitious event to date. For just a $250 buy-in, the tournament is guaranteeing $5 million across multiple Day 1s. Crucially, it is guaranteeing $1 million to the eventual champion.

Shrewd poker players will therefore be keeping an eye on whether this event will overlay or not, and we have the first hints as to whether that may be. At the time of writing, the first three flights of The One have concluded and they attracted 4,197 players in total, averaging 1,399 per flight.

There are 23 flights left to go, and the event needs 15,803 entries to break even, or 687 per flight. That sounds like an easy proposition for CoinPoker, but remember that yesterday’s Day 1 was on Sunday, the busiest time in poker.

Over 3,000 satellite tickets have been guaranteed for this event, and it has already generated 1,786 tickets at the time of writing, so the smart money would suggest that the guarantee will be beaten.
