Online Poker: Bodog $70K Guar. Has Huge Overlay

The Bodog $70K Guarantees on Tuesdays and Wednesdays Have Been Consistently Requiring Massive Overlays

The Bodog $70,000-guaranteed tournament required a huge overlay once again on Tuesday night. The tournament lured 1,031 players to pay the $50 buy-in, resulting in an overlay of $18,450. Bodog hosts two $70,000-guaranteed tournaments each week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (today) at 8:30 p.m. EST, and both tournaments have been regularly spreading overlays, providing excellent value for players.

The final table began with Duppy Conqueror in the chip lead with more than $650,000 and maynard7 in second with more than $500,000. Telly33 was the short stack with just under $150,000. Maynard7's stack shrunk at a relatively continuous rate until he was eventually eliminated in sixth ($3,010). Meanwhile, Telly33, who was actually the one to eliminate maynard7, had come back from behind and now sat in third with $394,000 in chips.

Duppy Conqueror was still in the lead at this point, with $907,000 in chips (after having had almost $1.2 million). From then, Duppy Conqueror's stack began a downward trend until it came down to three-way play, when he was finally down to the felt against the current chip leader, skeptix. First, Duppy Conqueror doubled through skeptix with pocket queens versus skeptix's 10diamond 2club (skeptix had pushed all in preflop from the small blind for $2.3 million and Duppy Conqueror called in the big blind with his remaining $335,000). The queens held up and Duppy Conqueror now had close to $670,000.

In the very next hand, skeptix pushed all in again, this time from the button, and Duppy Conqueror again called and showed Adiamond9spade. Skeptix held Kdiamond 3club and needed to improve. He did just that when the flop brought a king to give him top pair. Duppy Conqueror failed to pair his ace and he was knocked out in third ($6,300).

It was now skeptix versus Telly33, the previous short stack. Telly33 had just $349,000 in chips compared to skeptix's $2.7 million. A quick succession of all-ins brought Telly33's stack to $1.2 million within a minute. However, less than two minutes later it would be all over.

With blinds at $30,000-$60,000, Telly33 ($912,000) raised to $835,700 in the small blind and skeptix ($2.2 million) reraised enough to put Telly33 all in. Telly33 called and showed Jclub 7diamond and skeptix turned over pocket threes for the lead. The board ran out Kheart Qheart 3spade 9club 2diamond, giving skeptic an unneeded set to eliminate Telly33 and win the tournament. Skeptic earned $17,500 for his victory in the event.

The final standings were as follows:

1) skeptix – $17,500
2) Telly33 – $9,800
3) Duppy Conqueror – $6,300
4) wolfyy – $4,550
5) sws155 – $3,710
6) maynard7 – $3,010
7) ShipItThankyou – $2,310
8) rvrmonkey – $1,610
9) mthomas29 – $1,050
