Ignition Poker is launching The Players’ Championship, a new three-week poker tournament series running Aug. 23-Sept. 13 with $6.5 million in guaranteed prize money. The series is designed around player feedback, with changes to Sunday start times, tournament structures, and registration periods.
Three Weekends, Three Different Formats
The Players’ Championship begins with opening weekend on Aug. 23, featuring non-PKO tournaments alongside Mystery KO events. PKO Weekend follows Aug. 30, bringing progressive knockout tournaments, including PKO Main Events and re-entry side events.
The series continues through Main Event weekend on Sept. 6, featuring the flagship Main Event, along with a Mini Main, PKO, Mystery KO, and High Roller. The final Sunday on Sept. 13 will feature a supersized edition of Ignition’s new Sunday schedule.
Sunday Main Events will start earlier than Ignition’s traditional 4 p.m. ET start time, giving players in different regions an opportunity to participate at more convenient hours. Daily tournaments will run throughout the schedule, providing additional action beyond the featured events.
Players can begin qualifying before the series starts through warmup week, which runs Aug. 9-22. Satellite tournaments during the warmup period will award tickets into Players’ Championship Main Events, providing a lower-cost path into the Sunday tournaments.
Players Get A Say In The Schedule
The series will also introduce the Players’ Choice Tournament, allowing players to vote through social media on their preferred tournament format. The winning format will be played Sept. 13 as part of the series’ closing Super Sunday.
The tournament will carry an $11 buy-in and a $5,000 guaranteed prize pool, with Ignition adding another $15,000 to the prize pool.
The Sept. 13 Super Sunday will bring The Players’ Championship to a close while showcasing Ignition’s redesigned Sunday tournament offering. The series is intended to reflect direct player feedback, including requests for earlier Sunday starts, shorter registration periods, and new tournament structures.
