It’s rare for 24-hour casinos to close for a brief period of time, but that’s just what happened in Cleveland on Monday thanks to frigid cold temperatures that hit the Midwest.

Temperatures were well below zero for Northeast Ohio, while the coldest spots in Wisconsin were approaching negative 30. Monday and Tuesday reportedly were the coldest days in two decades for much of the country, even setting record-lows in some places.

Horseshoe Casino Cleveland opened in May 2012.

It doesn’t appear any other casinos in the U.S. closed Monday due to the weather.
