‘Giselle54’ and ‘GucciNIKE’ are still going at it in the high-stakes pot-limit Omaha tables on CoinPoker. But while they are still playing plenty of traditional PLO, the two have also moved some of their play over to the $500-$1,000 with a $200 ante 5-card PLO tables.
After some heavy initial losses, GucciNIKE has begun making some headway in the match. Earlier in the month, GucciNIKE strung together some wins worth $1.8 million. This past weekend, GucciNIKE added another $1.2 million to his account at Giselle54’s expense.
Massive Cooler Costs Giselle54
Just shy of 130 big blinds deep, GucciNIKE raised to $3,000, and Giselle54 made it $9,000. GucciNIKE called.
On the J♦8♥4♦ flop, both players checked, bringing the 10♥. Giselle54 bet $13,755, GucciNIKE potted to $59,605, and Giselle54 jammed for $120,892. GucciNIKE called.
Giselle54 showed 9♦9♥7♥6♠6♦ for a straight, but they had almost no hope against the A♦Q♥Q♦9♠6♥ shown by GucciNIKE. The A♣ river assured GucciNIKE of the $260,184 pot.

Hand Analysis
Giselle54 has a good hand to three-bet, as the double-suited varieties of this holding are strong enough. Facing that three-bet, GucciNIKE’s hand is close to a four-betting candidate. However, it needs a little more connectivity, such as A-Q-Q-10-9, so GucciNIKE’s call is optimal.
On the flop, Giselle54 has an easy check with a very middling all-around hand and no pair blockers. GucciNIKE has enough of the board to stab, but checking is fine too, since they also unblock all of the pairs.
Giselle54 turns a straight with two flush draws. They need to begin building the pot, and the hand isn’t strong enough to check-raise, so betting is best. When GucciNIKE pots it, Giselle54’s situation gets more precarious.
Non-nut straights generally make pretty poor candidates for shoveling all of the money in. However, Giselle54’s hand has some properties that make it much more reasonable. Obviously, having pocket 9s means the opponent won’t have the nuts as often. Furthermore, having both flush draws gives Giselle54 considerable cover in most cases when they run into the nuts.
GucciNIKE has the rare super cooler, though, covering both flush draws along with holding the bigger straight. That’s awful news for Giselle54, and they can’t find the straight flush river to pull off a miracle.
GucciNIKE’s Small Sizing Induces a Bluff
At 100 big blinds, Giselle54 potted for $3,000, and GucciNIKE made it $9,000. Giselle54 called.
GucciNIKE continued for $12,226 on the A♦J♣4♠ flop, and Giselle54 called. Both players checked the 8♥, bringing a 5♣. GucciNIKE bet $22,528, and Giselle54 shoved for $78,573.
GucciNIKE called with A♠7♦7♥6♣5♠ for the nuts. Giselle54 showed K♠K♣10♦7♣2♣ and watched the $200,000 pot go the other way.

Hand Analysis
Preflop, GucciNIKE has a hand that’s supposed to only three-bet when it’s double-suited. In an aggressive heads-up match between high-stakes PLO players, both participants will often widen their three-betting ranges, though.
GucciNIKE flops top pair but not a whole lot else. These hands are usually good to bet big in hopes of ending the hand, and that’s what GucciNIKE does.
It doesn’t work, though, as Giselle calls with the nut straight draw and some backdoor possibilities. Giselle54’s peel might be too optimistic, since they’ll face a lot of turn shoves after a rainbow flop from top set and strong two pairs with backup.
In any case, the players reach the river after they both have clear turn checks. GucciNIKE has the nuts but decides on a small-ish sizing of about half-pot. Blocking two of the board pairs, including the top card, is the key factor here. It’s going to be tough to get a pot-sized bet called in that scenario. Half the pot, meanwhile, is both more likely to get called and could induce bluffs.
Giselle54 does go for the all-in bluff, understanding that GucciNIKE will usually pot nut straights. The in-position player has to be careful not to bluff too frequently here. They certainly can’t bluff any combo that has a 7 or 6 in it since that will result in far too many bluffs.
However, Giselle54’s actual combo makes some sense for it. Not only do they block the nuts, they also have a 2 to block the wheel. Furthermore, not blocking any board pairs makes it more likely that GucciNIKE has a bet-folding hand.
GucciNIKE’s inducement works to perfection in this instance, as they win a full stack instead of forcing a fold from a weak hand.
