July was a huge month for the four casinos located within the state of Maryland.
State gambling officials said that the properties generated $69.3 million over the 31 days — a 44-percent increase over July 2012.
The best performing of the bunch was Maryland Live. It brought in $52.5 million. The casino’s live poker room is scheduled to open up later this month and should boost its revenues figures going forward. According to the Baltimore Sun, the casino has 4,323 slots and 122 table games at the present time. It is the state’s largest casino.
Hollywood Casino Perryville brought in $7.5 million during July, which was reportedly an increase compared to the same month in 2012.
Next up was Ocean Downs, which won $5.8 million.
Rounding out the report was the Rocky Gap Casino, which took in $3.5 million from gamblers.
More casinos will soon come to the state.
A Caesars Entertainment property is coming to downtown Baltimore, as construction reportedly is already underway. The property is expected to open in about a year.
Over in Prince George’s County, three firms are competing for the right to build.
The favorite to get the nod in Prince George’s County is MGM Resorts International. The winner of this opportunity won’t be announced until later this year.
