PokerTek Receives Michigan Approval for Its Table

Company Is Negotiating with Several Casinos There

PokerTek, a company that makes fully automated poker tables for casino use, announced it has received regulatory approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board, clearing the way to install its PokerPro tables in Michigan casinos.

"This approval allows us to finalize contract negotiations with several commercial casinos in the State of Michigan. We are very excited about this approval, and are looking forward to receiving additional approvals in other jurisdictions in the coming months," said PokerTek Chief Executive Officer Lou White.

PokerTek's PokerPro table can be found at Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Tampa and Hollywood, Florida, at Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino in Oklahoma ,and on several Carnival Cruise ships.

Hollywood Park Casino in Los Angeles is opening a special six-table PokerTek PokerPro poker room October 12, and the company is in negotiation with several casinos in Michigan to install its product.

PokerTek's PokerPro table allows poker players to play cash and tournament games around a real poker table, but it doesn't require cards, chips, or dealers. Players view their holecards, chip stacks, and flops, as well as control their actions, on touch-screen monitors that sit in front of them. A flat-screen television in the middle of the table also shows flops, where the button is, and where the action is.
