The World Series of Poker main event is running way ahead of schedule.
Yesterday, the day players started to get paid, was suppose to run until 600 players were left. But they hit that number early in the evening, and officials decided to press on. Fewer than 500 players started with chips today.
Today, they were scheduled to play from 600 to 300, but even before the players went on dinner break, fewer than 270 players still remained. Play will continue through five levels, so when play ends tonight, there most likely will be fewer than 200 people in the tournament.
Four more levels are scheduled to be played tonight after players return from dinner break at 8:30 p.m.
