British poker pro Chris Moorman is just 161 POY points behind current leader Ben Lamb in Card Player’s 2011 Player of the Year race. The clock is nearing midnight on Moorman’s chances to pass Lamb, but Moorman said he plans on doing everything he can to have a shot.
Moorman was leading the race until Lamb’s third-place finish in the World Series of Poker main event catapulted him into first.
This year has been Moorman’s best ever. He has won more than $3 million, with $1.1 million coming in the WSOP Europe main event.
Remarkably, he has nearly equaled his live performances with another stellar year online. He currently sits in seventh place in the Online Player of the Year race.
Altogether, his career earnings are now more than $5.3 million.
Moorman just made a deep run at the European Poker Tour Prague, but finished in 15th out of 772 and wasn’t able to bridge the gap to Lamb.
Card Player caught up with Moorman on Wednesday at the Epic Poker League main event. Moorman unfortunately busted on Day 1, but said he will be back in England right away to play another tournament before 2011 comes to a close.
