The first Irish Open 2012 online satellite takes place tonight Sunday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. on PaddyPowerPoker.com

To kick qualification festivities off the €200 + €15 no-limit hold’em freezeout satellite has two €4,600 packages for the event guaranteed.

Coincidentally the satellite kicks off just as PaddyPowerPoker’s Eoghan O’Dea takes to the felt in Las Vegas in his attempt to win the $8.7 million top prize at the World Series of Poker championship.

Satellite players can keep up to day with Eoghan’s progress during the final table at CardPlayer.com.

It was Benny Binion’s World Series of Poker which inspired the Irish Open in the early 1980s and it went on to become one of the poker world’s most prestigious and popular tournaments.

In 2012 it will take place from Apr. 6-9 in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin and will once again see a buy-in of €3,200 + €300.

The €100,000 Sole Survivor will also return giving all PaddyPowerPoker.com qualifiers a chance to win a €100,000 package, on top of whatever prize money may be won, for being the last qualifier standing.
