Jonas Kronwitter Secures Second Title At 2026 PGT PLO Series

Austrian Poker Pro Now Leads Series Standings With Five Cashes, Including Two Wins And One Runner-Up Showing

Jonas Kronwitter is on a roll inside the PokerGO Studio. He’s cashed in five of the seven completed events so far at the PGT PLO Series, with a runner-up finish and two titles won. His latest victory came in the penultimate tournament of the festival, a $15,700 pot-limit Omaha event. He was the last player standing from a field of 65 entries, coming away with $267,563 after striking a heads-up deal with Joni Jouhkimainen.

Kronwitter kicked off the series with a runner-up showing in the first event for $79,625. He then logged two ninth-place showings in events no. 2 and no. 4 before taking down event no. 5, a $10,500 buy-in, for $201,600. Two days after that, Kronwitter was hoisting his second trophy of the series. He now has more than $4.5 million in career cashes to his name, with $576,088 coming from his success at this festival alone.

As a result of his consistency over the past week, Kronwitter has climbed into the lead in the PGT PLO Series rankings. The 234 PokerGO Tour points he earned with this win pushed his total to 598. He also secured 432 Card Player Player of the Year points. He now sits in 160th place in the overall standings presented by CoinPoker.

Big Names Bounced Early At PGT PLO Event No. 7 Final Table

Kronwitter was one of 10 players to cash in this event, each of whom earned a share of the $975,000 prize pool. The final day began with seven remaining, and Jouhkimainen well out in front. That advantage expanded even further when his A♥K♠6♦5♥ outran the K♦K♣Q♣10♦ of Nicholas Palma on the first hand of the day. The J♥4♥2♥ flop gave Jouhkimainen the nut flush and a big lead in the hand. The J♣ turn and 6♣ river kept the Finn’s hand best, and Palma was eliminated in seventh place ($39,000).

A few of the shorter stacks then doubled through the leader, though, to level the playing field a bit. Nino Pansier was soon left on fumes after another clash with Jouhkimainen, and his final chip was collected by Jeremy Druckman. Pansier, a PLO specialist from the Netherlands, earned $53,625 for his sixth-place showing.

Lautaro Guerra, the second-highest-earning PLO tournament player in history, added another $73,125 to his tally with a run to the final five in this event. The Spanish star got the last of his stack in with A♠A♣Q♦8♦ leading the K♦K♣J♣7♥ of Jouhkimainen, but a K♠10♣2♥6♥3♣ runout gave Jouhkimainen top set and the knockout. Guerra now boasts over $11.7 million in career PLO cashes.

Four-handed action forged on for over 90 minutes, but eventually bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion Matthew Wantman committed his last seven big blinds with A♥K♥9♦8♦ from the small blind, shoving over a Jouhkimainen open from under-the-gun. Jouhkimainen called with 10♣9♥5♥3♣ and won on a J♦7♠3♠2♦2♠ runout, sending Wantman to the payout desk to collect $97,500.

Knockout With Quads Helps Propel Kronwitter To Victory

Jouhkimainen looked like he might run away with the title during much of short-handed play, but the stacks evened out considerably as the day wore on.

Kronwitter had moved into the lead by the time the next knockout took place. He opened with A♦Q♥Q♦7♠ from the small blind. Jeremy Druckman looked down at A♥10♦9♥3♠ in the big blind and re-potted, making it 1,100,000. Kronwitter moved all-in and Druckman called off his remaining 1,300,000. The Q♠5♦2♦ flop favored Kronwitter, as he improved to top set with the nut flush redraw. Druckman had outs to the wheel, and added more straight opportunities with the J♥ on the turn. The river was the Q♣, though, giving Kronwitter quads and the pot. Druckman earned $131,625 for his third final-table finish of the series.

With that, Kronwitter took roughly a 3:1 chip lead into heads-up play against Jouhkimainen. The two struck a deal to redistribute the remaining prize money, effectively bringing the event to a close.

Jouhkimainen earned $215,062 as the runner-up. The bracelet winner from Finland now boasts over $14.4 million in career tournament earnings.
