More Of The Best High Stakes Pot-Limit Omaha Hands Between ‘Giselle54’ And ‘GucciNIKE’

'Giselle54' And 'GucciNIKE' Continued Their High-Stakes Heads-Up Battle With Six-Figure Swnigs

The swings have slowed a bit in the heads-up pot-limit Omaha match between ‘Giselle54’ and ‘GucciNIKE’ on the CoinPoker $500-$1,000 with $200 ante tables. Each player has landed a seven-figure blow in the high-stakes PLO battle, but the past few sessions have seen Giselle54 drain away smaller fractions of GucciNIKE’s bankroll. Over the past week, Giselle54 has won approximately $350,000.

While a slower grind has replaced the seven-figure swings for the moment, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been interesting hands to dissect. GucciNIKE has been getting after it with some big bluffs that made for some of the best PLO hands this week.

GucciNIKE Misses a Pile of Outs

The players were 116 blinds deep when Giselle54 raised to $3,000, and GucciNIKE three-bet to $9,000.

Giselle54 called, bringing a KJ7 flop. GucciNIKE bet $9,226 and Giselle54 called. GucciNIKE then potted the 5 for $36,793. Giselle54 shoved for $98,186 effective, and GucciNIKE called the rest of the money off.

Giselle54 had top two with KQJ3. That put them slightly ahead of the AJ64 shown by GucciNIKE, but GucciNIKE still had a 42.5% chance to win, according to the Card Player Omaha odds calculator. It wasn’t to be, as the river was the 6. Giselle54 won the $233,226 pot.

Hand Analysis

GucciNIKE has a mandatory three-bet here with a good double-suited combo, and the flop continuation-bet looks good too. The three-bettor has the advantage in nut draws on this Broadway-heavy board, and blocking a J is nice. That will reduce the frequency at which GucciNIKE runs into middle set.

It might be tempting for many players to raise with top two in Giselle54’s shoes. However, top two pair isn’t in amazing shape against GucciNIKE’s range for getting it in. Usually, having zero backup means just calling is best. That’s what Giselle54 does.

The turn brings two flush draws, and GucciNIKE has a clear pot once they pick up an open-ender to go along with the flopped equity. Potting can force some better hands to fold, and in the event that Giselle54 has a hand that can get it in, GucciNIKE will still have decent equity.

That’s exactly what happens as Giselle54 slams the money in with top two, an easy decision. GucciNIKE doesn’t get there, and a well-played hand by both sides goes Giselle54’s way.

Giselle54 Profits from Aggressive Bluff Attempt

This time, the players were back on normal stacks of 100 blinds. GucciNIKE had the button and opened for pot this time, with Giselle54 making it $9,000. GucciNIKE called.

Giselle54 used a very small size with $3,500 on the KK9 flop, and GucciNIKE came out raising with $12,500. Giselle54 called. On the A turn, GucciNIKE continued barreling with $21,893. Giselle54 again check-called the wager. After the 8 river, Giselle54 checked and called the remaining $56,406.

GucciNIKE showed 8743. Giselle54 had AKQ9 for a full house to win the $200,000 pot.

Hand Analysis

GucciNIKE raises with a normal opening hand and calls a three-bet. Giselle54’s hand is an easy three-bet despite being single-suited, as it’s very connected and has a lot of nut straight potential.

On the flop, Giselle54 can either check or bet small. It’s a pretty good texture for the three-bettor since a lot of the reraising range contains high cards like a K. Blocking almost the entire board is an argument for checking, but not having clubs is nice.

GucciNIKE goes for an aggressive bluff on the flop. It’s pretty risky to raise without anything that blocks strong hands. Flush draws like this should bluff sometimes since they have equity against many hands, but no showdown value.

One thing going for GucciNIKE in this scenario is that Giselle54 has three-bet preflop much more aggressively than the solver recommends throughout the match. That means they won’t be as weighted toward the strong hands on a K-K-9 texture. That may have contributed to GucciNIKE’s decision to raise.

The A turn is really bad for GucciNIKE from a range standpoint, as they now can’t hope to bluff Giselle54 off of aces. In that sense, simply giving up may be best with horrible blockers and zero equity against a fair portion of Giselle54’s range.

Giselle54 can play some leads on this card, but this hand doesn’t work well for that because it blocks everything on the board.

GucciNIKE has a final chance to give up on the river. Blocking the 8 makes it a little less likely that Giselle54 has a full house, but GucciNIKE will still run into a ton of boats in this line. GucciNIKE pulls the trigger and gets punished again for another $200,000 pot.
