Nevada Gaming Revenue Drops 12.4 Percent In January

Nevada Casinos Take In Only $909.2 Million During The Month

Nevada casinos only took in $909.2 million during the month of January, representing a 12.4 percent decline from a year ago when the state reported gaming revenue of $1.038 billion.

Though numbers were down everywhere but the Boulder Strip, the biggest culprit for the drop was the Las Vegas Strip, which reported revenue of only $507 million, down from the $623.5 million it collected in 2012.

The reason for the less than stellar numbers is because of Chinese New Year, which occurred in February of this year. Chinese New Year brings in a large number of baccarat players, which was the case in January of 2012.

This January, baccarat numbers were down by 50 percent from the year prior.
