Lucky Chances’ Battle of the Bay Tournament

Popular Tournament Runs From June 3-10

Players from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are preparing for the 2012 Battle of the Bay poker tournament at Colma’s Lucky Chances Casino. The popular tournament officially runs from June 3-10 and offers up some of the best table competition in the region.

Last year’s draw was considered a big success and featured some 1,300 participants, who competed for a share of the more than $634,000 in prize money.

Contestants looking to retrench for the upcoming week-long event can try their luck at the Battle’s super satellite no-limit hold’em Tournament on Sunday, May 20. Winners in the super satellite will win seats into three Battle of the Bay tournaments, including the championship event.

The marquee event to the June tournament is the $100,000 guaranteed first place no-limit hold’em championship, which in 2011 was captured by local club player Rellie Sigua. This year’s edition of the high-stakes match will be dealt out on the final day of competition, Sunday, June 10.

Another anticipated event is the partner’s tournament, which is slated for Saturday, June 9, and features two-player teams where its members switch out per level with $300 “bounty” teams at each table. Part of its charm is if you or your partner knocks out the bounty team, then your team is awarded a $300 prize, donated by Lucky Chances.

An additional bonus to the partner’s event is all players are treated to brunch at Rene’s Fine Dining, located inside the casino.

The eight-day lineup features a number of rewarding draws for players of any ability level.

Kicking off the week’s proceedings in grand style is the $40,000 guarantee first-place no-limit hold’em tournament, on Sunday June 3. One day later, players can enjoy their Monday with the $10,000 first-place guarantee no-limit hold’em event. Both events start at 9:30 a.m.

The $20,000 first-place guarantee no-limit hold’em tournament takes place on Tuesday June 5, while the $10,000 first-place guarantee Omaha hi-low event will be held Friday, June 8.

Unique on the docket is the $10,000 six-handed no-limit hold’em tournament, which debuted last year, and involves a scenario where all of the tables playing are at six-handed or less. This tournament event is set for Wednesday, June 6. Sign up early for this event, as seating is limited.

Every player entered into the June 10 championship event is gifted an LCI polo shirt. In addition, competitors who make the final table in each event win a Lucky Chances jacket. Throughout the course of the tourney, t-shirts and hats are given away courtesy of the Filipino-owned gaming establishment.

Lucky Chances is committed to guaranteeing all first place prizes. In the case where the prize money does not meet the guarantee, the casino will add all necessary funds in order to meet the first place guarantee, without affecting the payout structure.
