After an exciting year of poker in 2010, the New Year is underway and will waste little time breaking into some major tournament action. Numerous major tournaments will take place across the globe in January, but by far the two largest are the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the Aussie Millions. Following what was a record-setting turnout in 2010, the eighth annual PCA is back at the exotic Atlantis Resort Casino in the Bahamas from Jan. 6-16. The always popular Aussie Millions wraps up the second half of the month, running Jan. 13-30.
Other major tournament series also make their 2011 debuts in January. The first World Series of Poker Circuit stop of the year is at Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino Resort for 42 events spread out from Jan. 6-25. Later in the month, the WSOP Circuit returns to Harrah’s Tunica in Mississippi, beginning Jan. 27 and continuing until Feb. 15.
The World Poker Tour will also soon make its first appearance of 2011 with the Southern Poker Championship (Jan. 7-27) at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. In the last week of January, the European Poker Tour debuts with EPT Deauville running Jan. 25-31.
Additional events include the Heartland Poker Tour‘s stop from Jan. 10-16 at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas, the Borgata Winter Open running Jan. 19-Feb. 4 in Atlantic City, and the Asian Poker Tour Asian Series’ visit to the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu, Philippines from Jan. 10-17.
Also taking place in January is the Caesars Winter Poker Classic at Caesars Palace Las Vegas from Jan. 17-Feb. 5. The L.A. Poker Classic will start 43 days of poker action on Jan. 19 and play through until March 3 at Commerce Casino in California.
