International gaming software designer, developer and licensor, Playtech, today announced its financial report for the third quarter ending 30 September 2009.
The report shows that although poker revenue has increased by eight percent, from €7.6 million in the third quarter of 2008, to €8.2 million for the third quarter of 2009, it has decreased by three percent from €8.4 million in 2009’s second quarter.
Looking at the bigger picture, the figures look quite healthy as poker revenue has grown 18 percent from €21.5 million for the nine months ending 30 Sept. 2008 to €25 million for the same period in 2009.
Operational highlights according to the report include continued progress with the development of Playtech’s poker network in Italy, and the launch of a new version of the company’s poker software, including a new multi-currency option, available in pounds sterling, U.S. dollars, and euro, which allows players to enjoy the game in their local currency without the need for conversion.
The results for poker reflect the overall results with gross income for the third quarter of 2009 up 12 percent to €31.9 million from €28.4 million for the same quarter in 2008, but down 4 percent from €33.1 million in the second quarter of 2009.
The company stated that the third quarter results had been affected by a “run of unusual sport results reducing the sport betting margins of William Hill Online and hence reducing the share of income contributed from WHO during the period.”
