Microgaming online poker network yesterday announced the launch of Europe’s first sit ‘n’ go tournament leading to a live final in Tallinn, Estonia from July 17 to 19, 2009.
The €2,200 buy in European Championships of Single Table Tournaments (ECOSTT) has a prize pool of €120,000 and will 
see player play four no-limit hold’em STTs, accumulating points with the players who make the top 18 on the leaderboard advancing to the grand final.
The €4,000 online qualification packages include buy in to ECOSTT, three night’s accommodation and travel expenses, entry into a live blackjack tournament and a €550 buy in to a no-limit hold’em side event with a prize pool of €21,000.
Players can qualify on over 40 sites including Ladbrokespoker, 32RedPoker, and StansPoker.
“We have seen a gap in the marketplace for a European event which recognises the skills needed to be a top STT player,” said a spokesperson for the network. “This tournament gives players four rounds to accumulate points for a place in a grand final, rather than suffering the disappointment of getting knocked-out by a bad beat on the first day of other major events offered elsewhere.”
Tallinn is becoming an increasingly popular stop on the European circuit, having recently hosted the European Masters of Poker which attracted 248 players.
