Maryland Casino Offering Trips To Outer Space
State's Largest Casino Offering 4 Tickets For Gamblers
Maryland’s largest casino is offering gamblers a chance to win a trip to outer space.
Maryland Live! Casino, located in Hanover, has a promotion going through the end of March that will award four $75,000 tickets to outer space. The casino partnered with an Arizona company that doesn’t have a name yet for the promotion, according to a report from wbaltv.com. Other U.S. companies are also vying to enter the space.
The casino said that it is the first in the country to offer a promotion involving tickets to travel outside of Earth’s atmosphere. The trips could happen by the end of 2017.
Buzz Aldrin, the second man in history to walk on the moon, was at the casino Thursday to help advertise.
According to Capital Gazette, the space trip would be subject to approvals by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation.
The casino called an opportunity to travel into space “a trip of a lifetime.”
The promotion comes as a casino from MGM at National Harbor inches toward completion. That $1.3 billion casino, which is expected to open by the end of 2016, will rival Maryland Live! for the state’s top grossing property.
