Preview Of The World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic Main Event

$10,000 Main Event Gets Underway Saturday, Feb. 23


The World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event is set to get underway on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles beginning at noon. Players will start with 30,000 in chips. Registration will remain open until the start of the seventh level, The first four levels will each be an hour long, and then all the remaining levels until the final table will last 90 minutes.

Sean JazayeriA total of 549 players posted the $10,000 buy-in in the 2012 running of this event, building a $5,270,400 prize pool. It took five days of play to narrow the field down to the last six players, and the final table featured some of poker’s brightest and most accomplished young stars, including Jason Somerville, Noah Schwartz, Daniel Kelly and David Sands. The last player standing, however, was lone amateur at a table Sean Jazayeri. For the win he earned $1,370,240 and 2,100 Card Player Player of the Year points.

The main event may be the highlight of the whole LAPC series, but it will not be the only event going on in the coming week at the Commerce Casino. In addition to a plethora of cash games, there will be seven additional tournaments for players to try their luck in from Feb. 24 through Mar. 3. Check out the schedule below for more info:
