Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza first caught the poker bug after former fellow Magic: The Gathering player David Williams took second in the 2004 World Series of Poker main event.  After accomplishing everything he could in the Magic world, Garza attacked the online poker world just like he attacks anything he’s passionate about. Success came early on after doing well in a small-stakes rebuy tournament. A rough stretch in cash games kept his focus on tournaments, and the move proved to be beneficial to his bankroll. Two years and some big scores later, he had won nearly $1 million online.

It was then that Garza went back to cash games and began playing with some of the high-stakes world’s best. Then, in 2007, he made his presence known live, when he final tabled the WPT North American Poker Championship in Canada for nearly $200,000, despite being just 19 years old. At the 2008 Aussie Millions, Garza steamrolled his competition at the heads-up event to capture an additional $90,000.
