Triton Poker’s first Triton One series is coming this September.
The company announced its new tour last month. Thursday morning, it released details on the first “One” series. Triton will hold the festival from Sept. 2-8 at the Landing Casino & Resort in Jeju, South Korea.
The stop will have 12 events and qualifiers, with buy-ins ranging from $2,000 to $20,000.
The company officially labeled the series a “pilot event” meant to appeal to a wider range of players with smaller bankrolls than Triton’s typical high-roller schedule.
According to company officials, the tour is meant “for all aspirational poker superstars.” In other words, this is Triton’s expansion into the mid-stakes. It’s in line with the World Series of Poker’s WSOP Circuit and the World Poker Tour’s WPT Prime.
“Many poker players aspire to play Triton events, and Triton One offers precisely that chance,” Triton CEO Andy Wong said. “It’s an incredibly exciting moment for us to reveal what we’ve got planned for Triton One. Everyone plays poker for a different reason: for the thrill, the challenge, to take a shot. Triton One opens the door to players of all levels. It’s the gateway to poker’s top tier.”
“One” Series Precedes Triton High Roller
The “One” series is is highlighted by its $8,000 no-limit hold’em main event. The tournament features two starting flights and runs Sept. 5-8. The stop will hold $1,500 satellite qualifiers for the event.
The series kicks off with the $3,000 Triton One Genesis event and also includes: two $20,000 single-day high rollers; a two-day $15,000 high roller; a $10,000 mystery bounty; and numerous single-day tournaments.
After One concludes, the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series starts a full schedule at the same venue from Sept. 8-23. The schedule features no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and short deck with buy-ins from $25,000 to $150,000.
The action includes the $25,000 WPT Global Slam and a $30,000 mixed no-limit hold’em/pot-limit Omaha tournament appearing on the schedule for the first time. Lastly, The $100,000 no-limit hold’em main event is set for Sept. 16-18 with the $100,000 pot-limit Omaha main event running Sept. 19-21.
Malaysian businessmen and philanthropists Paul Phua and Richard Yong founded Triton Poker in 2015. The tour caters to players willing to play at the highest stakes with events from exotic locations around the world, including South Korea, Montenegro, the Bahamas, Monte Carlo, and more.
