The 2025 World Series of Poker Europe is now officially in the books, and it might be the final WSOPE held at King’s Resort Rozvadov. The festival will have a new date and venue in 2026 after calling the Czech-German border venue home since 2017.
The latest WSOPE concluded with the €1,000 no-limit hold’em Closer event. The tournament attracted 645 entries, with Czech native Lukas Timko emerging victorious in the end.
Timko earned $184,860 and his first WSOP gold bracelet as the champion. Previously, his best performance on the live circuit saw him finish 24th in a €3,000 mystery bounty event at last year’s European Poker Tour Prague series for $8,692.
The top 98 finishers made the money, with plenty of big names running deep. Among those to make the final few tables were reigning Irish Open champion Simon Wilson (24th), Sorel Mizzi (16th), and eight-time bracelet winner Shaun Deeb (9th).
Just a week earlier, Deeb had triumphed in the €25,000 high roller at this festival. The two-time WSOP Player of the Year award winner lost a classic preflop race with A♠10♥ against the 8♦8♣ of Michal Schuh to hit the rail with $12,899.
Schuh went on to survive to the final heads-up match with Timko, who held a sizable chip lead after busting Mariusz Klabisch (3rd – $83,655). The final hand saw Timko’s 5♦5♣ outrace the A♣K♦ of Schuh. The final board of Q♣J♦6♠3♥7♦ improved neither player and Schuh settled for $122,850 as the runner-up. Schuh is no stranger to success at this venue, having won the 2024 WSOPE Colossus at King’s Resort Rozvadov for $190,199 and a bracelet.
