FanDuel expanded the company’s footprint after announcing a deal with Delaware North to collaborate on sports betting and online casino operations in West Virginia.

Delaware North owns and operates sports venues, airports, hotels, casinos, and more. FanDuel partnered with the company’s Mardi Gras Casino in Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

“Delaware North has been a respected name in gaming and hospitality for decades, and they are an ideal partner as we continue to operate in West Virginia,” said FanDuel business development senior vice president Jonathan Edson.

This is FanDuel’s second West Virginia partnership. It already operates a sportsbook at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs. FanDuel officials stated the company will continue to operate the sportsbooks, despite the new partnership.

Mutually Beneficial Partnership

The partnership combines Delaware North’s gaming and hospitality expertise with FanDuel’s online sports betting technology and brand recognition

“We love working with FanDuel and are very proud to be partnered together in West Virginia,” said Delaware North Chief Interactive Gaming Officer Lee Terfloth. “This partnership represents the best of what Delaware North strives for, bringing trusted, innovative experiences to our customers – and FanDuel is an incredible ally in that mission.”

The move comes after a failed partnership between Delaware North and European firm Miomni Gaming. The two companies tried partnering on the BetLucky sports betting app several years ago.

However, Miomni shut down the app in 2019. An intellectual property dispute between Miomni and European software company Entergaming forced its closure.

The dispute arose over an essential piece of software critical to the app’s functionality. But Delaware North appears to have moved on from the relationship with a more experienced partner in the U.S. online gambling space.

Delaware North also operates Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling, West Virginia.

West Virginia is one of seven states with legalized online casino gambling. West Virginians saw their first online operator launch this year when BetRivers began operations in June.
