Edson Tsutsumi Tops 2,006 Entries In Wynn Summer Classic $2,200 Event

The 2025 Wynn Summer Classic is nearly in the books, and one of the biggest events of the festival just wrapped up on July 10. The $2 million guaranteed $2,200 no-limit hold’em main event drew 2,006 total entries to nearly double its promised prize pool. In the end, $3,981,910 was paid out amongst the top 248 finishers, with the largest chunk going to eventual champion Edson Tsutsumi.

The Brazilian player earned $652,846 for the win. This was his second-largest recorded score, having taken home more than $1.9 million as the runner-up in the 2021 WSOP Online $5,000 main event.

According to a post on Wynn Poker Room’s official X account, this was Tsutsumi’s first-ever trip to Las Vegas, and he sure made the most of it.

Tsutsumi had plenty of stiff competition down the stretch in this event. Among the notables that ran deep were Ray Qartomy (35th), bracelet winner Daniel Smiljkovic (11th), 2024 European Poker Tour Prague €10,300 high roller winner Patrik Jaros (5th), bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion Eugene Katchalov (4th), 2023 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown high roller winner Brian Luo (3rd), and high-stakes tournament regular Thomas Muehloecker (2nd).

Muehloecker earned $430,853 as the runner-up, growing his career haul to more than $10.4 million in the process. This was the seventh-largest score of the Austrian’s career.

This was the first six-figure score in quite some time for Katchalov, who secured $253,481 for his fourth-place showing. Prior to this, his last such cash came in a 13th-place finish in the 2017 WSOP $111,111 High Roller For One Drop.
