BetMGM has named five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter as the face of the company’s responsible gaming efforts in Canada.
The New York Yankees legend signed a multi-year deal with the company. As part of the agreement, Jeter will appear in commercials highlighting BetMGM’s responsible gambling tools.
“BetMGM’s commitment to excellence and overall approach help them stand out as an innovator in their space,” Jeter said. “They have worked hard to create a real community in their audience. I look forward to working with their team to build connections within their base of players and support the company’s continued growth.”
BetMGM Canada is only available in Ontario. The company’s Canadian arm operates an online poker room, has one of the most popular sports betting sites, and offers online casino games.
Renewed Canadian Focus On Responsible Gaming
Jeter’s addition comes after Canada has seen a more restrictive environment when it comes to athletes promoting sportsbooks.
In 2024, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) passed initiatives that allow for athletes to solely represent sports betting operators to advocate for responsible gambling. Ontario official regulated the province’s online gaming market in 2022.
The Hall of Fame shortstop’s first responsible betting ad will appear in Canada and the U.S. later this year. He joins Edmonton Oilers’ star Connor McDavid in supporting BetMGM’s responsible gambling efforts.

Over his 20-year career with the Yankees, Jeter collected more than 3,000 hits, won five Gold Gloves, and was a 14-time All-Star while serving as the cornerstone of numerous championship teams.
