Twenty people have been jailed for between one and six years by Shanghai Putuo District People’s Court for gambling online 
with foreign online gambling operators according to Xinhua news agency.
Qian Baochun, described as the ringleader, was fined €567,000 and sentenced to six years while his 19 cohorts received sentences of between one and five years.
The court was told the group had earned over €180,000 since the operation was established in 2006 during the FIFA World Cup in Germany.
The report quoted court spokesman Zhang Minxian as saying, "This is possibly the country’s biggest online gambling case.”
