Online Poker — PokerStars Has Huge Weekend With Big Payouts

Matt "All_in_at420" Stout Wins Sunday 500

Matt StoutThe last weekend before the new year was also a record setting one. While PokerStars attempted to host the largest online tournament in history, thousands of players flooded the site, in some instances creating larger than normal prize pools.

A few notables were able to claim wins on Sunday, including Dan "Lenny" Heimiller, who beat out Frank "gator93" Hernandez and Luke "BdbeatSlayer" Vrabel to win the $200 rebuy. Chris "Moorman1" Moorman earned the victory in the $100 rebuy and Matt "All_in_at420" Stout was the top earner in the Sunday 500. James "Andy McLEOD" Obst fell just a bit short with a runner-up finish in the Sunday Warmup.

PokerStars Sunday Million

The Guinness World Record Attempt had a very positive effect on the usual Sunday Million prize pool. PokerStars bumped up the guarantee to $2.5 million, but the field of 16,260 crushed that number and created their own prize pool of $3,252,000.

A whopping 2,475 places were paid, highlighted with deep runs by Allinat420girl, Mark "QuasiFiction" Hirleman and Brian "ZBTHorton1" Horton. Peter "twirlpro" Turmezey, who won the Sunday Million just one month ago, would have made a strong push for Online Player of the Year honors, but ultimately fell just short in 19th place.

The final two were Ip_SakiSaki and Beufford. Amazingly, no deal was struck with all that money on the line and Ip_SakiSaki was abe to win over $330,000 outright.
