Marathon Poker Cash Game Takes Place Next Month

' Poker Den -- the Big Game' Returns for Third Time

Next month, a handful of the pros will head to East London to play in a cash poker game that will run 36 hours straight and will be filmed for television. The Poker Den — the Big Game is set to take place in London’s Poker Den and is the third time the event has been held.

Scheduled to appear in the game are Phil Hellmuth, Dave Ulliott, Jamie Gold, Robert Williamson III, Roland De Wolfe, Neil Channing, Andrew Feldman, Brain Townsend, Kirk Morrison, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Jon Kalmar, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, and others.

Players have an option of sitting down with either $10,000 or $20,000, and blind levels will be $25-$50. Straddling will be encouraged.

“The Poker Den has come such a long way since we started it back in the summer of 2005,” said Eddie Hearn, head of online gaming at Matchroom Sport, one of the sponsors. “The Big Game has been such a huge success, and the two series so far have attracted the best players in the world. We have seen some great action, fantastic banter between the players, and some berating between players.”

The game will be a marathon for many of the players, who plan on playing the whole time. One person who will be working the whole time is commentator Jesse May. He will be joined by a selection of professionals as co-commentators throughout the game.

The show will be filmed Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 and will be shown on Channel 5 in the UK early next year. The players will be in London for the main event of the World Series of Poker Europe. The show will eventually be distributed throughout the world.
