Swedish news site TheLocal.se today reported the resignation of Jesper Kärrbrink, the chief executive officer of Swedish state-run gambling operator Svenska Spel. According to the report Kärrbrink had become disillusioned over differences with his employers on how the monopoly should be run.
“It has become clear lately that my ideas about how Svenska Spel should be run don’t agree with the image held by the owners,” the former boss said in a statement. “Therefore I have, in consultation with the board, come to an agreement that the best course of action in this situation is for the board to find a replacement for me.”
Kärrbrink will receive 2.88 million kroner ($487,000) severance pay — about one year’s salary — as part of the deal for leaving the company. Also as part of the deal he cannot work for a competing company for one year.
He will temporarily be replaced by treasurer Anders Hägg.
