Online Poker: New OPOY Leader, Isaac Baron in Second

Isaac 'westmenloAA' Baron Vaults Into Second Place


Isaac Baron, one of the world's best online poker playersWith the conclusion of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series VII (FTOPS), the rankings have definitely been shaken up a bit. With a win in the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan, Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron, now playing on Full Tilt as “the guru 11,” earned 720 points, enough to put him in second place in the Card Player Online Player of the Year (OPOY) race. He defeated notable online professional Chris “LUHMAN” Martin heads up to take the increasingly important points and nearly $50,000. To date, the defending champion has earned $1,204,150 in OPOY-qualifying finishes alone.

The current first place resident is Tomgus456, PokerStars Sunday Million winner and recent third-place finisher in the FTOPS event No. 19. He has also taken down Bodog’s big Sunday tournament, as well. His efforts have earned him 2,592 points and a slightly comfortable 304-point lead on Baron.

Online player Reverse jumped into third place with his big win in the FTOPS main event, moving Russell “rdcrsn” Carson and Brian “SNo0oWMAN” Hawkins down a few notches into fourth and fifth place, respectively.

With a flurry of final tables in recent weeks, both OnlyPlayRagz and John "jclan5" Clancy were able to crack the top 10. Falling off of the top 10 list were Corey “muchaka” Cheresnick, Jonathan “fish_lovr” Schwartz, and Danny “THE__D_RY” Ryan.
