Sports betting platform and apparel company Fanatics has officially branched out into the online casino industry.

At the start of the month, the company launched its standalone online casino product in four states. Gamblers in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia can now play games like slots, blackjack, roulette, and video poker via the Fanatics online casino.

Some of the platform’s gaming partners include Light & Wonder, IGT, Wazdan, and White Hat Studios. Bekki D’Agata, commercial director of the Malta-based Wazdan, was pleased to see the gaming studio moving into the American market as part of the launch.

“The triple-state launch with Fanatics marks a major milestone for us in the U.S.,” she said. “Going live simultaneously in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania is a first for Wazdan and a testament to the strength of our partnership and our commitment to this key market.”

Fanatics Faces Plenty Of Competition

Just seven states allow for legal online casinos. Aside from the four states Fanatics launched in, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island also have legal iGaming markets. Nevada has a legal online poker market, but has yet to allow other forms of online gaming.

Fanatics, which purchased PointsBet’s U.S. sports betting assets in 2023 for $225 million, faces some major competition in the four states.

Pennsylvania has 22 licensed operators with heavyweights like BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel among the leaders in the market.

New Jersey was among the first states to legalize iGaming in 2013 and has even more licensed online gaming options. Players in the Garden State have 30 options to choose from and some of those same operators lead the market, including BetMGM, FanDuel, Caesars, DraftKings, and BetRivers.

Michigan has a more limited number of iGaming licensees, at just 15. Caesars, DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel lead the market. West Virginians can choose among 10 online gaming operators, with those same major operators dominating the market.

Fanatics already operates sports betting platforms in all four states and now aligns with other major operators, allowing players to seamlessly navigate between sports and casino betting.

Online gaming has become a growing chunk of U.S. casino gaming revenue in recent years. The American Gaming Association recently reported that U.S. gaming revenue reached $71.92 billion in 2024, a 7.5% increase from 2023. Online casino gaming and sports betting generated $21.54 billion, or 30% of total revenue. By itself, online casino numbers grew 28.7% year-over-year to $8.4 billion.

National revenue growth was driven almost entirely by online betting in 2024. Online gaming (sports and casino) now generates most of the commercial revenue in 13 states, including bigger markets like Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Several other states, including Maryland, New York, and others, have looked to legalize iGaming in recent years, but none of those bills have yet to cross the finish line.
