Phil Hellmuth went full “Poker Brat” last week on PokerGO’s High Stakes Poker after suffering back-to-back coolers that left him heading for the exits.

Seth Gottlieb got the best of the 17-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. Gottlieb won about $92,000 from the poker hall of famer, resulting in Hellmuth quitting the game.

The knockout blow came when Hellmuth held pocket queens. There was a raise before Gottlieb three-bet to $3,500 on the button.

Hellmuth four-bet to $12,000 and Gottlieb quickly moved all in. Hellmuth insta-called for his last $31,300.

“I’ve got aces,” Gottlieb noted confidently as he tabled his hand as an 82% favorite to win.

Hellmuth looked chagrined and the flop produced the JClub Suit10Club Suit10Diamond Suit, giving Gottlieb an even better 88% chance at winning the hand.

The 8Club Suit hit on the turn, at least giving Hellmuth a chance at a straight. But the 6Club Suit came on the river to hand Gottlieb the nut flush and the pot.

“I quit,” Hellmuth said as he got up from his seat. “That was fun.”

Just a hand earlier, Hellmuth took it on the chin as well. Gottlieb raised to $2,000 with pocket fives and Hellmuth three-bet to $6,000 with AHeart SuitJDiamond Suit. Gottlieb made the call and was a 54% favorite to win the hand, according to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator.

The flop brought JClub Suit9Spade Suit5Club Suit, giving Hellmuth top pair but Gottlieb a set of fives. Gottleib, who was now a 98% favorite in the hand, simply checked and Hellmuth did the same. The turn brought the 7Heart Suit and Gottlieb fired $4,200.

Hellmuth immediately raised to $11,000 and Gottlieb three-bet to $26,000. That brought an expletive from Hellmuth as he wondered what his opponent could be holding.

“Oh man, a set, really?” Hellmuth inquired.

“I’ll show you Phil,” Gottlieb responded.

“Yeah, I slow-played this hand,” Hellmuth said before calling and bringing the pot to $65,800. He had $64,000 remaining in his chip stack. “This so backfired on me, it’s frustrating.”

The river was a 2Club Suit and Gottlieb bet $28,000.

“The only show I run bad on is High Stakes Poker,” Helmuth noted as he surveyed the board. “I thought maybe I’d win $300,000 today. I had a good feeling and this is what happens.”

Hellmuth eventually called and Gottlieb raked a pot of $121,800.
