The $1,000,000 guaranteed Card Player Poker Tour Venetian $1,600 no-limit hold’em main event is now underway, with the first of three starting flights already in the books.
Days 1B and 1C will each begin at 11:10 AM local time on Feb. 13-14 at the Venetian Poker Room. Those who made it through those flights will return at 11:00 on Feb. 15 for day 2 action. The final table is set for Feb. 16 at noon, and will be produced and broadcast by PokerGO for Venetian Poker Live from inside the venue’s brand new state-of-the-art Poker Studio.
A total 122 entries were made on day 1A, adding $173,850 to the prize pool so far. Only 16 players bagged up at the end of the day, all of whom had made the money by surviving to the final 12.5 percent of the day’s field. Action was halted with 20:00 remaining in Level 16, with blinds at 3,000-6,000 and a big blind ante of 6,000.
The chip leader at the end of the day was Adam Todd with 503,000. Todd was joined by plenty of accomplished tournament regulars, including Darren Rabinowitz (420,000), high-roller regular Felipe Ketzer (359,000), bracelet winner and World Poker Tour main event champion Ryan Tosoc (268,000), World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond main event winner Michael Estes (201,000), bracelet winner Cole Ferraro (196,000), and bracelet winner Francis Anderson (160,000).
2021 CPPT Venetian main event champion and bracelet winner Ankush Mandavia made it through, with 111,000 in the bag for day 2. Mandavia nearly became a two-time CPPT Venetian champion around this time last year, but ultimately finished second in the 2024 CPPT Venetian to eventual champion Andrew Rodgers.
Those interested in playing one of the two remaining starting flights should know that the tournament has 40-minute levels and starting stacks of 30,000. Late registration and re-entry are available through the first nine levels and the break that follows, with an estimated closing time of around 5:55 PM.
