Canada’s Curtis Muller earned his first recorded live poker tournament title on Saturday, taking down the second of three $5,100 buy-in pot-limit Omaha high roller events on the schedule at the 2024 PokerGO Tour Texas PLO Roundup.

Muller walked away with $54,000 as the champion, the second-largest score on his career behind only the $67,700 he earned for a 155th-place showing in last year’s main event. Muller now has nearly $255,000 in lifetime cashes to his name.

With three PGT in-the-money finishes, Muller is now sitting inside the top 350 in the 2024 season-long standings.

This event drew 20 entries, creating a $100,000 prize pool that was paid out among the top three finishers. Anthony Hu was eliminated on the bubble by 2023 World Poker Tour Gardens Poker Championship main event winner Ky Nguyen, who made a straight flush to score the knockout and guarantee himself and his two remaining opponents at least $16,000.

Nguyen entered the final three with the lead, but lost a couple key pots to slide to the bottom of the chip counts. He got all-in with middle pair and a flush draw facing the open-ended straight draw and flush blockers of Muller. Nguyen improved to queens up on the turn, but Muller made a king-high straight on the river to knock Nguyen out in third place. Nguyen has nearly $1.2 million in career tournament earnings after this latest deep run.

Muller entered heads-up play with 2,100,000 to 400,000 for Arthur Morris, the champion of the 2022 World Series of Poker Circuit Hard Rock Tulsa main event. Morris managed an early double up to close the gap, but was soon all-in again after a flop of 10Spade Suit8Spade Suit3Club Suit. Muller held ASpade Suit10Diamond Suit7Spade Suit2Diamond Suit for top pair and the nut flush draw, while Morris had AHeart SuitKSpade SuitJClub Suit9Diamond Suit for an open-ended straight draw. The 6Club Suit turn and 3Diamond Suit river kept Muller ahead to bring the tournament to a close.

Morris took home $30,000 as the runner-up, growing his lifetime tournament haul to $3,041,110.

Here is a look at payouts and rankings points awarded in this event:

Place Player Earnings PGT Points
1 Curtis Muller $54,000 54
2 Arthur Morris $30,000 30
