James, Setna, and Liu Secure Latest Bracelets At 2024 World Series of Poker

A Look At The Results From The $1,000 Tag Team and $2,500 Mixed Big Bet Events

The 2024 World Series of Poker saw multiple bracelets handed out while day 1A of the main event ran on July 3. While Arash Ghaneian was busy taking down his second career bracelet in the $10,000 stud better championship, two other bracelet events played out inside Horseshoe Las Vegas’ events center: the $1,000 tag team no-limit hold’em and the $2,500 mixed big bet event. Below is a look at the results from those tournaments.

Event #75 – $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em

Jason James and Jimmy SetnaWith 1,437 total entries, this year’s tag team event had $632,280 in prize money to award. The top 216 teams made the money, but only one pair of players would walk away as the champions.

After three days of play, Jimmy Setna and Jason James were the last team standing. The Canadian duo each earned their first bracelets and paydays of $95,455 ($190,910 for the team).

The Mississauga, Ontario residents are currently roommates. Now they’ll have to collaborate on how to best display their collective WSOP hardware. James now has $1,205,415 in career earnings, while Setna sits with $869,000.

Several big names ran deep in this event, including Toby Allyn Shulman and Jess Horan (139th), Sean Troha and Matthew Park (122nd), Adam Hendrix and Ghadi Akari (89th), Adam Levy and Brent Philbin (43rd), Toby Boas and Angel Boas (9th), and Jason Wheeler and Anthony Nardi (6th).

Event #77 – $2,500 Mixed Big Bet

Wing Po LiuA total of 468 players plopped down $2,500 in order to enter this year’s mixed big bet event, which featured a rotation of the following poker games: Big O, no-limit hold’em, no-limit deuce-to-seven single draw lowball, pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better, no-limit five card draw high, pot-limit Omaha, and pot-limit deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball.

Wing Po Liu emerged victorious in the end, taking home $209,942 and his second bracelet for the win. The Hong Kong resident now has more than $861,000 in lifetime earnings after this victory.

Liu’s first win saw him come out on top in the 2023 WSOP Europe €5,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha championship for $243,800. These two bracelet event victories are Liu’s two largest tournament scores to date.

The top 71 finishers earned a piece of the $1,041,300 prize pool, with two-time bracelet winner Chris Klodnicki (15th), Andy Black (14th), bracelet winner Allan Le (7th), bracelet winner Alex Foxen (6th), and Kane Kalas (4th) all running deep.
