Caesars Entertainment on Friday announced that it has kicked off sports betting in the state of Washington, a recent addition to the growing number of states sanctioning sports betting in some form.

The opening of the retail sportsbook at the Muckleshoot Casino, a tribal-owned property, came just in time for the NFL’s Super Bowl on Sunday. In order to operate the sportsbook, Caesars received a sports wagering license from the Washington State Gambling Commission.

The book at the casino has four live betting windows and nine self-service betting kiosks, making it modest by Las Vegas standards. Under Washington State policy, mobile wagering can be offered on-site at the casino, but not off the property statewide.

Caesars partnered with Muckleshoot Casino, Spokane Tribe Casino, and its sister property, Chewelah Casino, to provide in-person sports betting services at each property.

“Plans for each casino will range from the opening of a full [sportsbook] location to the offering of self-service betting kiosks,” Caesars said in a statement.

Spokane Tribe Casino will also open a Caesars-branded sportsbook location, while Chewelah Casino will just offer self-service sports wagering kiosks.

“Partnering with three tremendous casinos for our expansion into Washington State is a big moment,” said Eric Hession, Co-President of Caesars Digital. “We’re thrilled to offer Washington sports bettors a chance to get into the action in time for Super Bowl LVI.”
