Nevada casinos won just over $1 billion from gamblers in January, according to figures released this week by state gaming regulators.
Any time the casinos win more than $1 billion is a positive for the state, but the revenue was down two percent year-over-year compared to the $1.03 billion in January 2017. The state collected $68.6 million in taxes during the month of February 2018, based upon the taxable revenues generated in January 2018.
The two percent decline was largely due to casinos on Las Vegas Blvd. Strip gaming revenue of $554.7 million was down nearly nine percent year-over-year from $608.9 million.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “it was the 36th time the state has recorded more than $1 billion in monthly win, a level first achieved in March 2005. The highest monthly win ever came in October 2007 when the state recorded $1.165 billion.”
