“When you have a straight draw plus flush draw, in general you are looking to bet and raise the flop… these hands should be fast-played because there are so many rounds that you can value bet on, and when you combine that combine with your fold equity in the pot the overall EV of these hands increases drastically when played aggressively,” said Polk early in the discussion.
“The turn is where I think combo draws end up getting pretty tricky. Let’s say you check-raise the flop, for example you’re in the big blind with 9-6 of spades and the flop comes 10-8-4 with two spades. If you check raise the flop, the turn is a brick and you bet and get jammed on, often times you end up having to fold.”
