Brian Hastings was already considered one of the game’s top young players. He’s played no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha at some the highest stakes ever seen, once winning over $4 million in one session online. Now he joins the prestigious list of poker players with multiple World Series of Poker titles.
Hastings topped a field of 91 players in the 2015 WSOP $10,000 buy-in seven card stud championship to win his second bracelet and $239,518.
“This tournament is more meaningful because it’s what a lot of the older, more established players played for many years,” said Hastings after he had secured his victory. “Anytime you win, it’s feels good.”
Hastings navigated a tough field only to make it to a stacked final table to do battle with the likes of two-time bracelet winners Daniel Kelly and Scott Clements. Hastings entered the final table with the chip lead, and still held a huge advantage by the time he made it to three-handed play with Kelly and Clements.
Clements was able to send Kelly packing in third to enter heads-up play at roughly a 2-to-1 chip disadvantage to Hastings. By the time the final hand arose Hastings held 2.6 million to Clement’s 130,000. Clements was dealt the (A

and brought it in and Hastings completed with the (5

Hastings made his flush by fifth street, but Clements picked up a redraw to a higher flush. He revealed his final card, the K
, which locked up the hand for Hastings and made his final card a mere formality. With that Clements was sent to the rail as the runner up with $148,001 while Hastings earned his second bracelet. This was his second final table of the Series, having finished fourth in the $10,000 Omaha eight-or-better championship event only a few days earlier.
Although exact terms are not public information, Hastings is known to have made some big side bets on winning a bracelet this summer. When WSOP reporters asked him about it he said, “It’s about twice what the top prize money was for this event, but I won’t say who it was with.”
