PokerStars beat the winter blues with its fourth annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) on Thursday, Jan. 4, at the famed Paradise Island Atlantis Resort and Casino. Card Player will also ring in the New Year with a week of complete PCA event coverage starting on Friday, Jan. 5. We'll provide online viewers with exclusive live updates, videos, interviews, photos, and glamorous location clips from the Atlantis, as we pack our sunblock, sandals (and don't forget the media equipment), and head for the Bahamas.
Amateur poker players and world famous professionals will meet for one of the world's premier
tournaments, competing for their slice of an estimated $5 million prize pool. PokerStars predicts nearly 750 entrants will attend the 2007 PCA, with World Series of Poker and WPT champions Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker, Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes, and Tom McEvoy making the trek to Paradise Island. Saturday Night Live star Norm MacDonald and actress Mimi Rogers are also slated to attend.
The PCA championship isn't the only event happening in the Caribbean this weekend. We'll also be covering the grand finals of the Moneymaker Millionaire, the largest free poker tournament in history. Moneymaker himself, the 2003 WSOP champion who won $2.5 million through a $39 PokerStars satellite entry, inspired the event. "The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is the perfect combination of high-caliber poker and a tropical paradise," says Reigning PCA champion and team PokerStars member Steve Paul Ambrose. "I cannot imagine a more scenic and exotic environment to host a world class poker tournament.
