The action has been popping off at some of the highest-stakes no-limit hold’em tables on CoinPoker, as players have been battling as high as $300-$600 over the past week. Several pots have approached and surpassed $50,000, and some of the top cash game players in the world have been in the mix.
These include ‘TaistoJanter‘ and ‘Clickr,’ two of the top regs on the site. Both have been dominating, especially Clickr, who has enjoyed more than $100,000 in winnings this week. Here’s a look at some of the hands powering their winning runs, including a hero-call for stacks with a small pair.
Pair of 9s Good for a $50K Pot
With 110-blind stacks at $200-$400 with $64 ante, Clickr opened to $1,000 and called a three-bet to $3,200 from ‘Witchcraft.’
The flop came 9♣6♠5♦. Witchcraft continued for $4,920. Clickr raised to $10,800. Witchcraft called. After the J♥ turn, Witchcraft check-called another $11,264. The river was the 4♠, and both players checked.
Witchcraft showed 8♣8♥, but that was no good against 9♠8♠, so Clickr won a $50,688 pot.

Hand Analysis
This hand begins with a normal raise, three-bet and call.
On the flop, Witchcraft goes with a big size. That’s appropriate for this texture — the solver actually favors an overbet as the bet size here — but it’s perhaps not the best choice with this particular hand. Pocket 8s do get in there for some big bets at a low frequency, but they don’t perform super-well once the pot gets huge here. Most of the value range is made up of overpairs and strong top pairs.
Clickr goes for a pretty thin value raise. They have one of the worst hands that the solver raises for value a decent chunk of the time, but it’s a fine choice because it can stack off comfortably against overpairs and charges weaker holdings. Pocket 8s is too strong to fold to the small raise.
That brings up the turn play, and Clickr goes for another seemingly pretty thin bet. There’s still enough value to go for it here, and that’s where things start to become more questionable for Witchcraft. Pocket 8s are supposed to mix folds on the turn, since they now have only about 33% equity against a balanced range.
Witchcraft does call, and Clickr decides to check it back on the river. Interestingly enough, this is a mistake in the solver. A pair of 9s is good enough to play for stacks on the river against a balanced range. And given that the opponent showed up to that point with a hand that was supposed to mix folds on the turn, Clickr’s hand probably has more value in this real-life situation than the solver.
TaistoJanter Hero-Calls With a Pair of 3s
With about 75-blind stacks at the same $200-$400 tables, ‘Nutz4u29’ opened to $1,000, and TaistoJanter called.
On the 9♠9♦3♣, Nutz4u29 continued for $702, only to face a check-raise to $2,115. Nutz4u29 called, and the turn was the 2♥. TaistoJanter checked, and Nutz4u29 bet $4,768. TaistoJanter called. On the A♠, TaistoJanter checked and called the remaining $22,639.
Nutz4u29 showed K♠Q♠ for a bluff, and TaistoJanter took the $61,174 pot with K♥3♠.

Hand Analysis
Preflop, K-3 offsuit is one of the worst hands that defends in this setup. It does get in there, though.
On the flop, K-3 is a fine hand to check-raise. K-Q with a backdoor is too good to fold. Even K-Q without a backdoor continues against the check-raise.
TaistoJanter slows down with a check on the turn, and that’s fine. This is a good enough hand to keep betting though, since it gets value from worse 3-X and ace-high hands.
Nutz4u29 decides to start bluffing, and this is too middling a hand to do it with. It’s not going to fold out almost anything better, and not many worse hands will call, either. Against the bet, TaistoJanter’s hand is much too strong to fold.
On the river, K-3 is supposed to be a fold against the jam. Nutz4u29’s ace-high hands have made top pair, so K-3 is now struggling much more against the overall range. However, TaistoJanter’s call can become very good if the opponent has too many bluffs, and given that Nutz4u29 showed up with a hand that wasn’t supposed to bluff, it seems likely the river call is winning.
