The $100,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha tables on CoinPoker were home to consistent nosebleed cash game action a few months ago, and they’ve kicked back into gear recently. Two new faces at the highest stakes, ‘chapaquente‘ and ‘OnTheRun123,’ locked horns at the $500-$1,000 tables with $80 ante in recent days. Chapaquente won almost $300,000 in their Friday session, one of the biggest tracked wins at the nosebleed PLO tables in months.
Despite the excellent result for chapaquente, it was actually OnTheRun123 winning two of the biggest pots they played. In both cases, OnTheRun123 used river leads to generate some value after ceding the aggression to their opponent on prior streets.
OnTheRun123 Turns a Full House
Playing 118-big blind stacks, chapaquente raised to $3,000, and OnTheRun123 called.
The flop came A♠K♥10♦, and chapaquente check-called $4,800. On the K♦, they check-called again, this time for $8,000. The river was the 8♥, and OnTheRun123 led out for $24,000. Chapaquente called.
OnTheRun123 showed A♣K♠5♠3♦ for kings full of aces. That was a winner for the $80,000 pot.

Hand Analysis
OnTheRun123 holds a pretty good hand preflop in this situation, one that’s very close to being good to three-bet. Essentially, the suited-ace versions of A-K-5-3 are going to be solid three-betting candidates, but the king-high suit makes it just quite not good enough.
The players see a flop that favors the in-position aggressor, who will have more two pair or better, with an especially big advantage in the sets. OnTheRun123 check-calls a normal size and then gets an interesting turn that delivers a full house.
At this point, check-calling for deception is going to be fine, especially since OnTheRun123 won’t have aces very often, and an aggressive opponent will often leverage their advantage at the top of the range.
Yet, OnTheRun123 opts to lead the river. It’s an odd decision following the turn check-call, unless they hoped to induce an all-in bluff on the river from a hand like A-8 or A-10. It also begs the question of what hands OnTheRun123 would lead as a bluff on the river. Those same hands are going to be the best candidates, but they’re also going to be hard to come by, since many of them would fold the turn unless they had backup equity.
Having A-K does mean OnTheRun123 blocks all of the good full houses, and that may have driven them to bet the river, thinking chapaquente was likely to check back.
OnTheRun123 Leads on Two-Paired Board
Playing 92 blinds effective, chapaquente raised to $3,000, and OnTheRun123 called.
OnTheRun123 led out for $1,000 on the Q♣10♦7♠ flop. Chapaquente called. OnTheRun123 continued for another $2,772 on the Q♠, and this time, chapaquente raised to $13,230. OnTheRun123 called, bringing a 7♣ river. That prompted OnTheRun123 to bet out again for $17,430, half the pot.
Chapaquente called, but they again couldn’t beat J♦10♥10♠8♣ for a turned full house. OnTheRun123 dragged another $69,720 pot.

Hand Analysis
Preflop, OnTheRun123 makes a normal defense with a connected but rainbow hand. These sorts of holdings aren’t good to three-bet.
They flop middle set and go for a bizarre tiny lead. Anything that has an ounce of potential can’t be folded by the in-position player, and that’s going to be most hands on a texture like this, especially hands that open from the button. Many straight draws are present, and the in-position player will have backdoor flush draws frequently on a rainbow board. So, this lead doesn’t really accomplish anything.
OnTheRun123 faces a turn raise after making a full house, and the story being told by chapaquente is that they have trips. That’s consistent with their flop play, since many top pairs without significant backup (at least an open-ended straight) will just call a flop lead. Calling is the only option for OnTheRun123, since raising would isolate chapaquente’s full houses and good trips that still have decent equity. OnTheRun123 will be drawing almost dead sometimes against these hands.
Leading the river isn’t an advisable play here when the 7 pairs. In the prior hand, chapaquente may have at least had some check-back candidates like Q-J. In this case, though, chapaquente would have little reason not to bet trip queens, especially with a good kicker. Tens full can do some check-raising against small river sizes in this situation.
Again, though, the lead garners some value for OnTheRun123 as they get their boat paid off.
