The owner of a furniture store in Houston, Texas just got rocked for $600,000 after offering a juicy promotion that more than 100 customers took him up on.
USA Today reported that Gallery Furniture owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale dangled the following for his customers: purchase $5,000 worth of furniture (or more), have it delivered to your home before the start of the first game, and correctly pick the two teams that would advance to the Super Bowl and you would get the purchase free.
In other words, a 100-percent refund.
An incredibly high 80 percent of customers participating in the promotion picked the right teams and now McIngvale has to issue refunds to the tune of $600,000. One customer in particular, according to USA Today, had $12,000 on the line in the gamble.
Super Bowl XLVIII features the Seattle Seahakws versus the Denver Broncos.
