Jason Daly Scoops Third Career WSOP Bracelet With Omaha Eight-Or-Better Win

Texan Tops 828 Entries In $1,500 O8 Event To Earn $191,362

Coming into the 2023 World Series of Poker, Jason Daly had yet to capture a WSOP gold bracelet. The player from Texas finally broke through that summer, taking down a $3,000 limit hold’em six-max event for his first piece of hardware at the series. Now, just a few days into the 2026 WSOP, Daly has emerged victorious for his third career bracelet, topping a field of 828 entries in the $1,500 Omaha eight-or-better event to earn $191,362.

This was the second win in an Omaha event for Daly, who triumphed in the $2,500 mixed Omaha eight-max event last summer for his second bracelet. This latest victory was the third-largest of his career. He now has more than $1.9 million in recorded tournament scores to his name, with nearly $1.1 million of that coming from his 39 cashes in WSOP events.

“I love this game. People do make a lot of mistakes, like playing for half of the pot when you should be having half of the pot locked up. You can notice a lot of mistakes in others doing that,” Daly told PokerNews live reporters after scooping the final pot.

Daly also scored 912 Card Player Player of the Year points for this win. This was his second title and third final-table finish of the year so far. His other win saw him take down a $400 buy-in no-limit hold’em event at a WSOP Circuit stop at Horseshoe Las Vegas this spring for $54,890 and 384 points. Daly now has 1,356 total points, which puts him just outside the top 150 in the 2026 POY race standings presented by CoinPoker.

Star-Studded Final-Day Field

This event played out over the course of three days inside the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The strong turnout made for a prize pool of $1,099,170, with the top 126 finishers earning a share of that total.

Plenty of notables ran deep, including Justin Liberto (49th), Esther Taylor (39th), Michael Noori (35th), Valentin Vornicu (15th), Tyler Phillips (11th), and Ryan Bambrick (10th).

The final table featured several highly accomplished players, including three-time bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst. The former poker pro, now working in finance, returned to the felt and made it down to the final nine. All-time bracelet leader Phil Hellmuth shared a photo with Selbst during the event.

Selbst’s final stand pitted KK44 against the AA66 of Per Hildebrand preflop. The Swedish player made an ace-high flush to scoop the pot, with no low possible. Selbst earned $17,149 for her efforts, bringing her career total to $10,938,887. She remains the second-highest-earning female player in poker tournament history. She trails only Kristen Foxen, who has over $18.9 million in recorded scores.

Benjamin Gold followed Selbst to the rail in eighth place ($17,149), running into a full house for bracelet winner Amnon Filippi. Not long after that, Joseph Hallock committed his final chips with an ace-high flush draw, the second-nut low draw, and an open-ended straight draw. Andrew Voor had flopped trip fives with the nut low draw, which was replicated by Hildebrand. No low came and Voor’s trips were good for the high, earning him a scoop and the knockout. Hallock earned $22,817 as the seventh-place finisher.

Big Names Bounced Ahead Of Heads-Up Clash

Perry Green

Daly scored his first elimination at the final table when his top set scooped a pot to eliminate three-time bracelet winner Perry Green (6th – $30,973). The Alaska resident last triumphed at the series in 1979, taking down the $1,500 no-limit hold’em. His previous two bracelets both came in ace-to-five lowball.

Daly then won the side pot in a three-way all-in to bust Voor in fifth place ($42,879). The main pot was won by Filippi, who rivered trip threes with an ace kicker to scoop. Daly had pocket queens for the high in the side pot. This was the second-largest live tournament score for Voor, trailing only his $239,654 payday for a runner-up finish in the 2024 Borgata Spring Poker Open $2,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em event.

Filippi bowed out in fourth place ($60,517). Daly rivered fours full of sevens on a high-only board to scoop. Filippi, who won this same event in 2022, now has nearly $3.9 million in career cashes under his belt.

Daly scored another knockout when Hildebrand got the last of his short stack in from the small blind with QJ74. Daly woke up with AA42 and called. The board came down K72310 and Daly scooped with pocket aces for the high and the nut low. Hildebrand earned $87,038 for his third-place showing. The Swedish player now has nearly $1.1 million in lifetime earnings after this score.

Heads-Up For The Gold

The final battle for the bracelet began on fairly even footing, with Dorian Rios taking 10,600,000 into heads-up play against Daly. The Venezuelan squared off against the American for several hours, with plenty of swings along the way.

Daly was pulling away in the early going, only for Rios to bounce back from a sizable deficit to regain the lead. Daly was able to jump back out in front, though, and then began creating some distance once again.

Rios finally fell into the danger zone after multiple hours of heads-up action. His final stand saw the chips go in after a flop of K108. Rios held KJ109 for top two pair and an open-ended straight draw. Daly had A998 for bottom pair at the time, but the A turn gave him aces up and the lead. The 3 river was no help to Rios, and he headed to the payout desk to collect $127,528 as the runner-up finisher.

This was the second time Rios had placed second in a bracelet event, having also done so in the 2016 Monster Stack for a career-high $692,029 payout.
