Bomb threats led to evacuations at three Oklahoma casinos Saturday. Authorities did not find any bombs.
According to Comanche Nation Police Chief John Journeycake, Red River Casino, Kiowa Casino, and Chickasaw Casino received bomb threats from unnamed callers. All three properties are located in the southwestern Oklahoma near the Texas border.
Each casino has increased police patrols and security measures.
No Suspects Named
Police searched the properties for several hours. Then, at about 5 p.m., authorities told casino staff that their properties were clear and patrons could return.
The FBI and the US Army also took part in the search.
Police planned to make frequent appearances on the properties in the coming days as part of preventative measures and to assure casino guests.
Authorities don’t have a motive nor suspect in the case.
Casino Near Los Angeles Received Threat Last Month
The threats may be part of a recent trend in calling in threats to casinos. In January, the Parkwest Bicycle Casino near Los Angeles was evacuated. A phone caller claimed that someone with a semiautomatic rifle was on the property.
In 2024, a bomb threat at a New York casino landed a man in jail. Police said the threat was an incident of “swatting.” – making a hoax call to police alleging a serious violent crime leading to a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Team} response.
In a bizarre scenario, a casino in eastern Germany was evacuated in 2016 after an employee heard mechanical noises coming from a trash can in the men’s restroom. Law enforcement was dispatched, who treated it as a potential bomb. The noise turned out to be coming from a vibrating penis ring.
