The 2025 Brazilian Series of Poker Championship main event cost 30,000 Brazilian real or $6,000 USD to enter. The no-limit hold’em tournament sported a record $4 million USD guarantee, the largest ever for a poker event in Latin America. A total of 714 entries were made inside the WTC Sheraton Sao Paulo. While the top 103 finishers earned a share, only one player would walk away with the trophy and the title.
After four starting flights and four more days of combined-field action, hometown hero Alen Fillipi emerged victorious. The Sao Paolo resident was awarded $683,600 for the win. This was his largest payday yet, topping the $178,515 that he earned with a seventh-place showing in the 2022 World Series of Poker Millionaire Maker event. He now boasts seven figures in career cashes, including a top-100 showing in the 2025 WSOP main event for $100,000.
This victory came with 1,824 Card Player Player of the Year points for Fillipi. This was his first POY-qualified score, but it alone was enough to move him inside the top 300 in the overall standings presented by CoinPoker.

Nine To Four
The final day of this event began with nine remaining and Diones Lopes in the lead. Fillipi sat in fifth chip position to start amongst a sea of Brazilians looking to win on home soil. The only non-native player still in the mix was five-time bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel, who took down a $30,000 high roller earlier in the series and finished fourth in the $100,000 super high roller.
The Czech poker star’s run in the main event concluded when his A-10 ran into the A-K of Lopes during the early action. He earned $55,000 as the ninth-place finisher, bringing his total haul for the festival to $877,000. He is now ranked 16th in the POY standings, with four titles and ten final-table finishes.
Fillipi then knocked out Bernardo Soares (8th – $70,000) to further trim the field. Pedro Padilha, who won a massive €25,000 high roller at the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo this year for $1.3 million, then busted Giorgio Tonin (7th – $95,000) to kickstart his climb up the leaderboard.
A preflop cooler sent Gregory Fabiao packing in sixth place. He got his last nine or so big blinds in with pocket eights, only to find himself trailing the pocket kings of Fillipi. The superior pair held up and Fabiao headed to the payout desk to collect $124,000 for his strong showing.
Ramiro Araujo four-bet shoved from the big blind with K♣10♣ facing an under-the-gun open from Matheus Grazziotin and a button three-bet from Lopes. Grazziotin jammed and forced Lopes out before revealing the A♦K♠. Both players made kings and deuces by the river, but Grazziotin’s kicker played to eliminate Araujo in fifth place ($170,000).
Closing Out The Victory
Padilha was left on fumes when his bluff with a missed straight draw ran into the turned straight of Fillipi. Moments later, his last blind was sent to Grazziotin, who made an ace-high flush to best the trips of Lopes for the main and side pot. He earned $230,000 for his fourth-place finish, growing his career haul to nearly $3.3 million.
The final three agreed to a deal that redistributed the remaining prize money a bit, leaving the title and $152,600 to play for. Lopes locked up $519,400, Grazziotin $423,000, and Fillipi $521,000. Lopes soon hit the rail to collect the amount he bargained for. The first hand after the deal saw him call a shove from Fillipi on a Q♣8♠5♥2♠ board with A♦Q♠. He was facing K♠6♠. The 9♠ river filled Fillipi’s flush to set up the heads-up showdown.
Fillipi held a 4:1 chip lead over Grazziotin to start. The match was short-lived, lasting just a single hand. It began with Grazziotin limping from the button with 5♠4♣. Fillipi checked holding J♥4♦ and the two saw a flop of 10♠5♦4♠. Fillipi check-called a 600,000 stab with bottom pair, only to turn jacks-up with the J♦. He checked again and Grazziotin bet 2,800,000 with his flipped fives and fours. The 6♥ completed the board and Fillipi checked a third time. Grazziotin moved all-in for 10,000,000 and Fillipi made the call to bring the event to a close. This was by far the largest score yet for Grazziotin, who now has more than $557,000 in career cashes.
