Hustler Casino Live (HCL) delivered a gargantuan cooler for viewers at the end of last week that featured quads beaten by a straight flush for a pot of almost $195,000.
The game featured blinds of $25-$50, and the “ante game” format required each player to put in $50 before each hand. Thus, the antes forced the game to play much bigger than its $25-$50 stakes.
The action saw Chris “Luda Chris” Chen raise under the gun to $375 with 8♥8♣. Francisco Fragoso called with J♦10♦.
Another player named Jasper then three-bet to $2,600 with 6♦2♠. Chen and Fragoso both called, bringing the pot to $7,950. At this point, Fragoso was a 45.4% favorite to win the hand, according to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator, with Chen just behind him at 42.3%. Jasper had only an 11.9% shot to win the hand.
Crazy Turn And River Forced The Action
The flop brought Q♦8♦6♣, giving Chen a set of eights but Fragoso an inside straight flush draw. However, Jasper acted first and fired $4,000 with bottom pair and more than $45,000 in his stack.
Chen, who was now a 63% favorite, raised to $12,000 with almost $78,000 in his stack and Fragoso called with almost $75,000 in front of him. Jasper came along with a call as well, bringing the pot to $43,950.
Fragoso had a 37% chance to win now, with Jasper at a minuscule 0.11%. The turn card delivered the 9♦, giving Francisco the straight flush. He now had his opponents drawing completely dead and the action checked around.
Amazingly, the 8♠ fell on the river to give Chen quads. He bet $18,800 and Fragoso quickly moved all in. Jasper folded and Chen immediately called for a pot of $193,700. Fragoso announced his straight flush as he turned over his hand and Chen angrily threw down his cards for the entire table to see the carnage.
Unbelievably Unique Cooler
“I had such a feeling you had it too,” Chen said as players stood up to check out the results.
“This is how we do it,” Fragoso responded with a bit of a dance move and smile after the big win. Watch the complete hand below.
This was a truly rare occurrence and often triggers a bad beat jackpot, but Chen wasn’t that fortunate in this case. The probability of being dealt a straight flush is 0.0279% and 0.168% for four of a kind.
Fragoso is a California-based player who has appeared on HCL several times and has also played on Live at the Bike and Poker Night in America. Through October, he had been up $107,000 in those appearances, according to HighRollPoker.com, and added considerably more to that in this session.
Also a regular on HCL, Chen is an investor and poker player from Boston, Massachusetts. He had been up almost $394,000 on the show, but dropped quite a bit after this hand.
