Pioneering Online Poker Operator Gets The Chop For A Second Time


One of internet poker’s pioneers has been mothballed again. closed its doors yesterday for the second time further compounding the woes of the beleaguered Ongame network.

PokerRoom, founded in 1999 and originally closed in 2009 by owner bwin, was re-opened in 2012 but a statement at the site yesterday seemed to confirm its demise was, this time, final and linked to’s sale of the Ongame network last year and subsequent liquidity merger in December.

“PokerRoom will close its doors on 19th of February. Registration for new players has been stopped as of today,” the announcement said.

On 19th of February all real money tournament tickets in players accounts will be converted to cash, however all uncleared bonuses will be forfeited at this time.
