Usually when one hears college students talking about finals, your mind drifts to the end of the semester. But at the bestbet Jacksonville this past week, collegians from around the southeast had a different kind of final in mind: a final table.
The first ever College Poker Championship saw 132 students turn out to take a break from studying books and lecture notes and instead study their opponents as they tried to pick off bluffs.
The last scholar standing was Edvin Hot, a 27-year-old New York native currently enrolled at Florida Coastal School of Law.
While college athletes clashed on football fields around the nation, Hot demonstrated a different set of skills on another green battlefield, overcoming a chip-deficit heads-up against Taylor Trace to earn the $1,000 first-place prize and the unique distinction of being the first-ever bestbet Jacksonville college poker champion.
