Max Katz Wins Seat On Moscow Municipal Council

From Max Katz Flickr streamRussian poker player Max Katz has successfully entered politics in his homeland having won a seat on Shchukino municipal council in Moscow last week.

The 27-year old independent candidate funded his campaign from his poker winnings according to The Telegraph despite not having cashed in any significant tournament since 2010.

Katz had a share in 2011 World Series of Poker main event champion Pius Heinz.

He told the English newspaper, ““I want to become mayor in a small Russian town when I am 35, and test my urban development plans.

“Everyone told me I should make the same promises other politicians were making, that I would vow to punish corrupt politicians, reduce the costs of gas and water, and so on. But I chose to be honest.”
